New England Springs: Beautiful or Miserable

A few weeks ago my boss clued me in to a little secret about May in New England; she said it's either beautiful weather or just shit (to paraphrase). Turns out 2016 is the ugly kind of May. It rained the entire week making for cold, gray, drizzly days in the field. It was also a new moon so the tides rebuilt a lot of the beaches I work on to unrecognizable terrains.

The rain pelted new petals off of a lot of our spring flowers.

These flowers are at the Polly Hill arboretum a little ways down the road. Several of my housemates will work there.

I love finding random things shaped like Oklahoma. No one but an Okie would see this rock amongst the literal millions at this particular beach.

This particular botanical (?) feature wasn't on the beach last week, but alas the storm brought it in.

The West Tisbury Town Hall is conveniently located for bathroom breaks and lunches in my car to escape the rain between site visits.

I can't wait to get more pics of this cute farm when I get my camera back!

I got a great box of chocolates from Tav- all inspired by iconic works of art! I've limited myself to two pieces a day which I feel cancels out the 8 miles of walking I do on average.

I'm loving the snail mail and am using it to cover up my not so pretty wall above my bed.
