In Retrospect

Wednesday morning on the ferry:

Today marks 1 month of island living. April 11th I rode the ferry, completing my 1,900 mile solo trek. Today I'm back on the ferry- by chance on the one month mark. This time I'm with my boss and we are heading over to a symposium on the mainland. We caught the 06:30 ferry, I have coffee in tow, I'm not shaking, and I found the bathrooms! Furthermore I know what my day to day entails for my job, I have seen my cool farm house, I've explored the island, and I've met some good friends. This is definitely a different ferry ride than a month ago.

Obligatory bathroom selfie since, well, I found the bathroom.

Wednesday evening:

It was a really good day today. The feeling of being on the ferry and "coming home" was such a stark contrast to how I felt when "going to" the Vineyard. I really enjoyed spending the day in the company of my boss and she gave an interesting and informative presentation at the symposium. She is full of so much knowledge and experience and is happy to share that with me - and earned her Ph.D a few weeks ago! We went to Trader Joe's and I had the chance to stock up - which is great because it's both different than what we can get on island and much less expensive! Emily gave me tips on all the best things, so we now will play the rationing game for our Trader Joe's gold! This is going to be a great summer.
