Food for Thought

Is food the center of my life? Yes.
Is all I do eat? Also yes.

We had a big Friday night in. We had leftover meatballs so I asked Emily if she wanted meatballs and ravioli, but when I got the ravioli out it was molded. So post-shower with soaking wet hair we went to the little market and got new ravioli and Emily picked up brie and a baguette. Successful Friday.

We have a bunch of random stuff in the house including a breadmaker, yet are really lacking in basics like skillets and cereal bowls. Kady didn't waste any time in breaking in the breadmaker as well as making cookies! She and her father also planted the garden, so we think we'll keep her around.

Saturday was utterly exhausting. I had a lot to do including significant driving, so I ended up working 11 hours when all was said and done. It was my first day to break out shorts and sandals though, so I was excited to usher in the summer! When I got home Emily had made quinoa and stuffed mushrooms. I picked up this beer last weekend and would give it two thumbs up. I love the beer selection for an island and a small store. There's plenty of Harpoon as well as more mountain/west coast brews.

There's a place in Oak Bluffs called Back Door Donuts. By day they have a storefront full of baked goods, but they made their fame by opening up their literal backdoor late at night with fresh, hot donuts. They're open something like 8:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. at the back door, primetime for people out on the bar scene. We returned to our little dive bar for live music, entertainment by way of local men, and some beers followed by my first Back Door Donut trip.

A lazy Sunday evening (my Friday) came with movies and a one pan dinner of black bean burgers and potatoes.

I'm definitely digging in the fridge for ideas at this point, but the next two days will see another grand grocery trip. We are preparing for Cinco de Mayo on Thursday- any excuse to celebrate!
