Where I'm Going and What I'm Doing
This Okie biologist is making her way to Martha's Vineyard to embark on a new assignment and consequently a chapter of my life. I have accepted a position to work for a conservation agency as the "Shorebird Volunteer Coordinator" until September. I'll flush out what this means as I learn what it means firsthand. My species of study will be terns and plovers, which I have worked with for the last two summers along the Canadian River in Oklahoma. The scenery and magnitude of colonies will be unlike anything I've experienced, but I'm ready for that step. I fell in love with the coast in Cape Cod as a middle schooler when I was determined to save a beach full of stranded sea stars. The thought of returning to the area to perform a similar (though more organized and educated) task is kind of mind blowing.

I will be living on a preserve on the 90 square mile island. In case you're in need of a geography lesson as I was, I found this map on world-guides.com
I hope to post often on this blog as a way to keep everyone in the loop in a convenient way, but feel free to send messages as well :)
What a great blog start. You will be keeping a diary as well as allowing all of us the pleasure of your adventures. Carry on, amazing Angelina!
