The Last Leg

Leaving Stamford and heading for the last leg of my trek was stressful. I had a noon appointment with the ferry. The ride costs $160 roundtrip, so it was essential that I made it on time. I was so paranoid about being late that I didn't want to risk stopping for food or coffee, so I was shaking from a combination of nerves and not eating.  The shaking was not alleviated by the Americano I ordered at the Woods Hole coffee shop by the ferry port, nor were my nerves when I heard the heavy accents and realized how big a change I was about to experience.

Thoughts from the ferry:

I really have no idea what that lady said but she took my ticket and waved me on, so I guess I'm good.

Oh shit, they want me to keep pulling up?! I'm going to hit the wall. I wonder how many people hit the wall. Can the ferry still go if I hit the wall?!

Okay I didn't hit the wall. Would it be their fault or mine if I did?

2 semis?! TWO semis? We're probably going to sink.

(then I carefully got out of my car and squeezed through to the staircase)

Holy cow it's windy up here. I'm going to man up and stand out here though.

I wonder if the concession stand sells alcohol.

Okay it's too cold I'm going inside.

Yeah I definitely could use some wine.

Can I get some wine from my car?

Does everyone know I'm moving here or can I casually look like a local who's pacing the deck with her camera?

Where's the bathroom?

Should I see if there's wine before I go to the bathroom??

Oh no, it's already over!

(never found the bathroom and found out later they do serve alcohol)

After a bit of a fight with my GPS (which served me well until Rhode Island) I finally found my beautiful acreage, pond, and farm house.

Here's the back view, to which I drove up to see

The property served as an orchard and after being washed out by a hurricane became a dairy farm. The house was refurbished in 2000 for its current purpose. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms and two smaller ones. I'll post a picture of my bedroom IF I ever get all moved in :) hopefully this weekend with some time off.

I think I would've gotten along with the last residents of the farm- they left this on the fridge

We have composting, environmentally friendly toilets as well as great recycling options and a compost.

I went outside to take a picture of the old barn at sunset and there happened to be almost a complete rainbow perfectly posed above it!
